Sneak Peek: Upcoming Darisini

“Get into a line that you will find to be a deep personal interest, something you really enjoy spending twelve to fifteen hours a day working at, and the rest of the time thinking about.” — Earl Nightingale

We would like to share what we’re doing right now. And, we’re happy to give access to some of you to try our latest development. We hope you’ll like it. Enjoy!

1. New interface

“It’s not easy to tap on the link”, “The menu is too small”, “It takes too many taps”, “My fingers are too big!”

We want to tackle those problems. Darisini will have completely new interface. We hope it’s easier to navigate, and can also give you more enjoyable experience. We make the text bigger. Let’s share what we’re doing right now.

A brand new homescreen. Each category has its own icon now. Our illustrator has been working really hard — and he’s really enjoying it! — to create lots of beautiful custom icons. And, do you know that you can customize the homescreen? Read on for more details.

The location detail page also will have a new look. And, we hope you’ll like it. Previously, when you want to get a route, you need to go to “Map” page first. Later, you will be able to see the route with a single tap. There options there: add to phonebook, show the route, and see where the location on the map.

Apple will have its own map for the upcoming iOS 6, and we’re proud that our app will support Apple’s Map. But of course, it will still support the original Google Maps for those who decide not to go with iOS 6.

2. Settings and Personalization

We want to give you freedom to consume the information inside Darisini app. We want to make it more personal. We will introduce “Settings” and “Personalization” feature. So, what you can expect from these two features?

  • Flexible searching radius
Currently, we only search for locations in 10 km radius. In some cases, specific locations are located further (than your current location). You can search up to 99 km radius.
  • Choose the categories, and manage how they should be displayed
We will have more categories in our database. But, some categories might not work in every locations in Indonesia. Or, you don’t want some categories on the list. For the upcoming update, you can choose your favorite categories, and also change their order on the homescreen. If you like food, you can put “Food and Beverage” on the top.

3. More-organized data and category synchronization

When something changed on the category data, we want to make it easy for you to get the changes. We don’t want to bug to upgrade our application only to get the latest category.

You only need to tap a single button, and everything should by synchronized. Automagically.

In the last few weeks after the launch, we use our application everyday, and look for feedbacks. We — as a team — also involved in a discussion about which features should be made available on the upcoming release.

Other notes:

We’re now focusing on the iOS version at the moment. And, we just found the fact that there are more than 80 Pertamina gas stations and 25 museums in Jogjakarta.
